THE VACANT PORTFOLIOS.
[BY TBIiKQRAra.-OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Tuesday. As to the filling-up of the vacant portfolios, the general opinion is that Mr. Guinness will be the new Colonial Secretary, but whether he will be called to the Legislative Council is uncertain. In such case the Chairmanship of Committees would go to Mr. Joyce, who has as deputy discharged the duties of that office, and to the other two portfolios no one ventures to predict anything as to their allotment.
