WOOL SALES. Press Association.—Electric Telegraph.-Copyrigh'. London, January 20. At the wool sales, competition continues spirited, with prices hardening. Timaru, January 21. At the second wool sales of the season, today, 4900 bales were offered. A large proportion was passed, farmers' reserves being fixed on too high an estimate of the effect of the recent advance at Home. The withdrawals were reduced by private sales. The bulk of the wool offered was below the average in condition, rather dirty, and heavy in grease. Clean light-conditioned was eagerly bid for. The ruling prices for the day were ;-Cros<bred and hulfbred, best, Brt to B|d ; medinm, 7d to Stl ; inferior, 6d to 7d ; Merino, 5Jd to 7d. Scoured First crossbred lambs, 12Jd; crossbred, UJd; second crossbred and half bred lamb, lOd to lid ; greasy, rams, and matted, in good demand, od to 7Jd. .
