Experienced light variable winds to the East' Cape, thence to arrival strong westerly wind and heavy head sea. ' The Mauapouri leaves for Sydney at 5 p.m. to-day. THE WAIHORA. Early yesterday morning the Union Company's steamer Waihorti, Captain R. Neville, arrived from Sydney. Mr. A. THE RANGATIRA.

The well-known cargo steamer Rangatira, of the Shaw, SiVill, and Albion Company's line, arrived in harbour yesterday afternoon, and having explosives on board anchored in the stream. The steamer has made an excellent passage of 54 daj's, and comes into port in splendid older, everything both on deck and in the engine department being in as perfect a state as it is possible to be, and reflects the highest credit' upon Captain Burton and his officers. The steamer brings about 5000 tons of general cargo, 3000 tons of which are for this "port, the balance being for the South, whither the steamer will proceed about the end of this week. Captain G. Burton, R.N.R., is still in command, and lias with him the following officers; Chief, Mr. J. M. Roberts; second, Mr. J. banks (late Mamaiij; third, Mr. 0. Polkinghorne; fourth, Mr. Keasley; chief engineer, Mr. M. G. Harvey (latq Mamari); secdnd, Mr. Paul; third, Mr. Stephens; fourth, Mr. Geach: refrigerating engineers, Messrs. Ramsay and Podock. Of the voyage the'chief officer reports The Rangatira lett Loudon on November 27, and experienced light south-east winds and fine weather down Channel, arid he&d winds across the Bay of Biscay. Reached Krieriffe on December 4. Coaled, and proceeded oil the voyage early next morning. Experienced light southerly winds and tine weather to the equator, which was passed on the 12th, followed by southerly and south-easterly winds aud fine weather to the Cape of Good Hope, which wis. passed on the 23rd. Moderate westerly and southwesterly winds'and'fine weather prevailed on the run across the southern ocean neither ice iior wreckage being sighted. Fine weather continued, and the steamer was off Hobart on the 14th just.; the North Cape rounded at 8.24 p.m. on the 19th, the harbour being made shortly after 3 p.m. yesterday, strong northerly and north-westerly winds being experienced from Tasmania till arrival. This morning the ' steamer will put out the explosive portion of her cargo, and will then berth at the Queen-street Wn&rf, and the work of discharge at once proceeded with. THE STELLA. The steamer Stella has been chartered to proceed on a trading cruise to Raratonga, and will leave to-morrow, Messrs. Russell and Somers, the agents for the vessel, notify by advertisement in another part of this issue that all cargo must be alongside by noon to-morrow. The Stella has excellent accommodation for a few saloon passengers, arid as she has been recently overhauled is iu excellent order. The round trip is expected to occupy about three weeks.

THE SAN FRANCISCO MAIL. The mail steamer Monowai_ left Sydney for cilia port last'evening, and* is expected to arrive oil Friday night.
