Notice is hereby given that it is the intention of j the Body Corporate called the Mayor Councillors , and Citizens of the City of Auckland incorporated under the provisions of tin Municipal Corporations j Act, 1886, and its amendments (hereinafter called the local authority) to apply to His Excellency the Governor in Council for an authorising order under the provisions of the Tramways Act, 1594, authorising the construction in part the deviation in parts and the extension of tne tramwavs known as the City of Auckland Tramways, with electrical traction by means of the overhead system as the motive power; and further that in the event of such authorising order being panted it is the intention of the said local authority on tho granting of the same to delegate the authority conferred by such order to the persons hereinafter named in terms of the power vested in it by section 10 of the said Act. (A) The description of the proposed works; (B) the place where the plans and cross-sections are deposited for public inspection; (C) the names of the persons to whom the authority contained in the said order is to be delegated; and (D) a general description of the terms and conditions subject to which such delegation is to bo made are as follows :— (A) tho description of the proposed works being a deviation from that portion of the Auckland City Tramways as at present authorised, extending from the " centre" at Queen-street Wharf to Ponsonby by way of Customs-street West and College Road. Said deviation commencing In Customsstreet West at the crossing thereof of Albert-street, passing along the raised or southern part of Customs-street to Hobson-street, thence up tlobsonstreet to Victoria-street, thence westward down Victoria-street to Patterson-streat, where it joins the route alnady authorised for the construction of that part of the Tramways as aforesaid. Double lines to be permitted in all streets having a width of thirty-two feet, and upwards between kerbs, grooved steel rails of the pattern at present in use within the city, or as may be decided on by the delegated authorities and the City Engineer ; girder rails of heavier section, supported on ballast as shown on the cross sections, all according to the best modern tramway practice. With all nocesiary fixed and movable points and crossings. Electrical traction to be by means of the " overhead system," in which the current is supplied to the car uiotorsby a strong wire called the "trolley wire," suspended at about 20 or 21 feet above the surface of the street. All poles supporting said wire to be on the line of the kerbs, the trolley wire being suspended from brackot arms or from span wires across the street, is supplied with electric current from the generating station by means of underground feeder cables. The poles and span wires, or poles and brackets to be erected all along the route at intervals of about 40 yards. The return current to be by metallie conductors throughout and confined to the rails and conductor cables laid for the purpose. The whole to be in accordance with the regulations of the Board of Control, constituted in terms of the Tramways Act, 1894, and subject also to the rules of the Board of Trade in London in reference to electric traction being observed in such construction. (B) The plans and cross sections showing the lines and construction proposed within the boundaries of the city are deposited for public Inspection in the office of the local authority being the municipal offices of the city of Auckland, corner of Wellesley street East and Coburg street, in the city of Auckland. (C) It is intended that the authority contained in the said authorising order shall be delegated by the local authority to Messrs. Dillwyn Parrish and Alfred Parrish, of No. 2, Copthall Buildings, London. (D) A general description of the terms and conditions subject to which the delegation is to be made being Messrs. Dillwyn and Alfred Parrish to commence the construction of the said deviation, extension works, and electrical equipment within eight calendar months from the date of the agreement delegating the said authority, and on failure to do so then the powers given by the authorising order shall cease to be exerciseable by the said Dillwyn and Alfred Parrish or their assignees, lessees, or mortgagees, as provided by section 2a of the second schedule to the Tramways Act, 1894, The authority and all powers, rights, and privileges contained in the said delegation of authority shall he made subject to the contracts made with and concessions granted to and now vested in the City of Auckland Tramways and Suburban Land Company Limited and its assigns and to all powers, rights, privileges, and obligations contained in such contracts or concessions or otherwise vested In or imposed on the said company and subject also to the said Dillwyn Parrish and Alfred Parrish or their assigns before the 80th day of June next obtaining from the .said City of Auckland Tramways and Suburban Land Company Limited or their assigns a complete and valid assignment of all Its interest in the said Chy of Auckland Tramway and its plant and appliances. To enable the Auckland City Tramways to bo completed as at present authorised and the deviation thereof as above and extending the lines to Pnrnell and to Onchungi, and to equip the whole with plant for olectric traction, the term of the concessions under which the said tramways aro at present held and workod is to be extended for a term being twentyone years from the date of the delegation of the authority contained in the authorising order intended to be applied for at the same rent as is at present payable for and in respect- of the Auckland City Tramways.
