Lund and Co., of London, have recently placed an order with the Sunderland Shipbuilding Company, says Lloyd's Shipping Gazette, for a large steamer which they intend to add to their Australian fleet. The vessel is to have a burthen of 6000 tons, and powerful engines of the most approved design, and will be the fourth that has been supplied to them by the builders. The keel and stein for this vessel, weighing 25 tons, have been placed with a Sunderland firm to be forged. On the Yarrawonga on Monday, it was incidentally mentioned that the new steamer referred to above was to be an enlarged and improved Warrigal, which vessel is the largest and most modern of the boats possessed by the firm. The saloon, it is stated, will be amidships instead of at the stern, as in the generality of cargo steamers, and in other ways it is intended that she shall be quite up to date, for at the present day cargo steamers so rapidly become obsolete.
