We refer our readers of this column to the review of trade in our Homo Summary, as in this exceptional holiday time it is clear that 110 local report can be written for tho week. Business is suspended until the holidays are over. Milling wheat: The markets are very dull, owing to the brilliant weather and tho holidays. Sharps are in better inquiry. Bran is dull of sale. In the local produce market the prices remain unchanged, as follows .-—Best dairy fresh butter is Cd, second quality sd, and third quality 3d per lb wholesale. Eggs are lOd per dozen wholesale, and Is per dozen retail.
KAURI GUM MARKET. The following are the quotations for the kauri gum inarkot for the week ending December 24,1895 Poor ordinary, which comprises weak and rough-coated pieces, pickings, and washed nuts, £28 to £31. Ordinary, meaning hard, rough-scraped gum, varying in price according to the quantity of washed nuts, ranges from £3$ to £44. Good ordinary, meaning hard, unpicked range gum, price varying according to size, sciJipinfj, and freoaom from weak pieces, from £47 and upwards. East Coast, £70 to £72, Supplies for 24 days in December, 400 tons. The market is good at present, though buyers are not operating freely oil account of the holidays. Superior ordinary and East Coast are in good demand.
