SUICIDES.

A yonso man named John S. Mcintosh, aged 29, who resided with his wife and sister in Lorance-st., Wellington, was found dead in Newtown Park on Nov. 20, with a bullet through his forehead, and a sixchambored revolver at his side. He had been missing since November IBth, and had evidently been dead aboub 48 hours. Ho had been out of employment for over' five months, and had bccomo very despondent of late. Ho followed the occupation of a clerk, and was ono time on the staff of the National Bank at Napier. A sad tragedy is reported from Wellington Isaiah Fake, a bricklayer, aged about 51, living in Drummond-stroet, after a difference with his wife on Nov. 13, drow a revolver and shot her through the neck. The bullet, entering the right side of tho windpipe, came oub at the back of the neck. Fake then turned the weapon on himself, and the bullet entered his heart. Death followed almost instantaneously. Fake was married only a few months ago, his wife being a Mrs. Skinner, from whom her husband secured a divorce on grounds of adultery with the deceased. Fake had been known to be of eccentric habits for some time, and his wife quite recently spoke of obtaining police protection, Mrs. Fake was removed to the Hospital. At the inquesb a verdict of suicide while temporarily insane was returned. J. R." Ellessley, about 35, hanged himself on November 13 in an out-building adjoining his residence at Hastings. The deceased had boen in regular employment at Tamoana, but came out of Napier Hospital recently, arid since then has been in a despondent state. Mr. E. J. Dowling, manager of the .Bank of Now Zealand, Oamaru, shot himself through the head on November 15. He had beon suffering from an internal complaint for some time. Tho deceased was an old and highly respected citizen wlm had been formally years in the Bank's service. _ Joseph Allwood, cab proprietor, living at St. Kilda, Dunedin, committed suicide on Wednesday evening, the 27th of November, He returned from town early in the evening, and going to a loose box of his stable, he gashed his head from ear to ear, almost severing his head from his body. Tho police wore called in, but tho man was dead. In his pocket- was--found a paper giving hit name and the name of his father, with the memo,, " This, to my wife.". No reason is known for the acb.
