At the Police Court, Aratapu, on Wednesday. September 11, before Messrs. T. Webb and T. Bassett, J.P.'s, John Larsen was charged under the Police Offences Act with being found by night on the premises of A. Brown at midnight on Tuesday without lawful excuse. Amelia Brown and Edith Brown, daughters of plaintiff, and Constable Scott gave evidence, from which it appeared that at the time stated accused came to the house and knocked loudly ab the front door. He then went to the back door, which was locked, but he burst i.b in, came into the house, went through various rooms, and tried to light the lamp in the dining-room. The plaintiff at first went to the children's bedroom, bub gob frightened, lifted the window, got triochildren out, and by the same way left the house herself. A neighbour wwrtior the police, and prisoner The constable stated that theaccused was sober when he was arretted. The accused was found guilty, and was sentenced bo six months' imprisonment with hard labour.— [Own Correspondent.] A meeting of shareholders in the Empress Licensed Holding will be held at the County Chambers, Coromandel, on the 20th inst., at eight p.m. A dividend of 30s per share (the first) is payable to the shareholders of the Coromandel Steamboat Company.
