[BY TELEGRAPH.— PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Palmerston North, Monday. At a public meeting attended by 1200 in connection with the Temperance Convention, addresses were delivered by Dr. Newman and Mr. Bell, M.U.R.'s, Mrs. Kirk, President of the W.C.T.U., and Mr. E. A. Haggen, of Woodville. The proceedings were most enthusiastic. Wellington, Monday. A slight shock of earthquake was felt here at thirty-five minutes past ten this morning. Dunedin, Monday. __ While it rained incessantly in Dunedin all day yesterday, there was a heavy fall of snow in Taieri, and inland. On the plain trees were broken down by the weight ol snow. ' , , Thomas Calcutt, for many years land purchaser for the Government, died yesterday, aged 63. ~ ... Mr. W. Carncross addressed his constituents at Mosgiel this evening. He re- ,;■ viewed the legislation of the past session. A vote of thanks and confidence was ae« corded him. The remains of the late Bishop Moran are now lying in state at St. Joseph Cathedral. t Large numbers visited the building to-day. ;
