POPULAR CONCERT.
Last night waa a bad one for anything in the way of a public entertainment. Few cared to rink moving out of doors. Had the weather been more favourable doubtleas there would have been a large audience at the City Hall at Mr. John Birch's third popular concert. As it was there was a fairly good attendance, and the excellent grogramme was thoroughly appreciated, trice's orchestra opened both parts of the programme with well-rendered selections. Miss Lizzie Wan-en sang " Daddio" (which was encored), and also took part with Mr. Arohdale Taylor in the duet " Fairy Wand" from "Maritana," a number which was well received. Mies Hargrave was encored "Sailor Lad," and also "Sweet Madoline." Mr. Reginald Burch had to reappear after his rendering of " Fiddle and i" (with violin obligate by HerrZimmermann),and give "Pretty Little Dark Blue Eyes. He also had to follow, "They all Love Jack," with "Someday." Mr. A. L. Edwards was recalled for " There is a Flower that Bloometh," and also for " Estudiantine;" in response to the latter encore he gave, "Queen of My Heart." Mi. Archdale Taylor, who was unfortunately placed to conclude each part, gave " The King's Minstrel" and " The Bedouin Love Song" with acceptance. Herr Zimmermann contributed a couple of violin solos. Both wore his own arrangements of popular aire. He played these in his usual admirable manner, and he could have played them again and again before satisfying the audience. He had to re-appear after his fantasie on popular airs. Mr. John Birch was doubly encored for his reoitation, The Sneezing Duet," and had to reappear likewise after " The Midnight Murder." Mrs. Archdale Taylor ably acted as accompanist.
