DAMAGE TO THE MANAWATU. Wellington, May The steamer Manawatu was taken on the patent slip to-day to ascertain the damage sustained while lying alongside the breastwork, an New Plymouth last Saturday. It was found that the hull had been badly shaken on the port side, and new doubling plates will have to be fitted on for about 16 feet, and other repairs will also have to be effected.
