Plunkett, a member of the Legislative Assembly, intends to introduce a Bill next session providing for the reduction ol the Governor's salary by £1000, and the salaries of the Judge? by £500 each.

NEW SOUTH WALES PARLIAMENT. Sydney, April 29. In Committee in the Legislative Assembly, on the Local Government Bill Mr. Watson, labour member, moved the amendment, which was carried against the Government last week, asserting the principle of one-man-one-vote in municipal elections. The Premier, who was not satisfied with last week's defeat, said the Government had decided to make the question a party one, and would abide by the decision, if the House accepted Mr. Watson's present amendment. On a division being taken the Opposition joined issue with the Labour Party, the result being the defeat of the Government by 47 votes to 42. The Opposition members explained that their action was taken with a view to kill the bill. The Premier, Mr. Reid, in order that) the bill might be dropped, then moved that the Chairman leave the chair. Mr. O'Sullivan moved as an amendment, that leave bo given to sit again. At a meeting in the Town Hall, attended by 14,000 people, ib was resolved to ask the Government to appoint a Royal Commission to re-open the case of Dean, the alleged wife-poisoner. Later. In the Legislative Assembly the Premier announced that the Cabinet has decided, in consequence of certain statements furnished them, to appoint a Royal Commission to fully investigate the Dean case. RECORD IN TELEGRAPHY. Sydney, April 30. A record in long-distance telegraphy was made on Sunday, when Sydney officials communicated direct with those in Perth, the distance being 3140 miles. A splendid circuit was obtained.
