KAUKAPAKAPA ROAD BOARD.

A meeting of the Road Board took place in the hall on the 16th of March. Present: Messrs. Dye (chairman), Andrews, Drinnan" and Sinclair. The Government circular re Fair Rent Bill was received. No action was taken in the matter. A schedule of " thirds," due to the Board up to the 31st of January, 1895, amounting to £7 18s Id, was received from the Land Office. It was resolved to allow these " thirds " to accumulate for a time. Mr. M. Walsh wrote, accepting the Board's terms for clearing road at Makarau. The chairman of the Komokoriki Road Board wrote, stating that they had not sufficient funds at present to do anything to the north end of the Makaru Bridge. Mr. Naylor tendered for extending the road clearing from Tea-tree Flat, but stated that the line of road went over such steep hills that it would be of little use. Under these circumstances it was resolved not to spend any money on this i part of the road. Mr. John Lee wrote, stating that there ware two trees on the road by his place which were danger- • ous, and requested the Board to have them removed. The road inspector was instructed to see the trees, and report to the next meeting of the Board. Re Kanohi Road, it was resolved to spread more earth over the teatree on the embankment lately made there; also to widen a side-cutting on the Kaipara Harbour Road. The following accounts were passed for payment :—John Simcock, £9 lis 6d; Gavin Shanks, £9 18s; Norman Cosgrave, £6; Waitemata County, £2 7s 6rt : J. D. Simcock, £2,65; F. Elvin, £1 16s; James Hall, 12s; C. Hooper, 18s. Mr. H. Fulton's account of £17 10s was passed for payment, subject,; to Messrs. , Dye and Andrews' approval of the work. It was resolved to notify Mr. John Drinnan that the Board would J hold him responsible for the cost of repairing any. damage to the Excelsior Bridge arising through his timber traffic.
