From returns reported in America it would appear that the grand total of sheep on the globe is estimated at 583,030,200 head. Of this number North America has 51,223,983 ; South America, 135 954.857; Europe, 181,831,642; Asia, 53,401,579 ; Australasia, 124,845,606 ; Oceana, 12,607; and Africa, 35,759,935. The sheep of the United Kingdom is set down at 33,642,000; but this is a mistake, as there were last year only a little over 30,000,000. British India owns the bulk of the sheep in Asia.
