Hazelbank.— work done upon the new leader at No. 3 level has nob so far resulted in anything payable being found, bub the indications so far met with have been of an encouraging character, and such as to warrant a continuation of the prospecting work now in. progress. A payable class of quartz continues to come to hand from the cross reef and Darby's leader, and it is probable a crushing from them will be sent to the battery next week. Sheridan (Tapu).—Mr. John Williams, a well known and experienced Thames mine manager, has been appointed to the management of this mine, and took over the charge of ib to day. He has taken down with him several miners in order to increase &he present working staff, and purposes commencing etoping operations in a most vigorous manner, in order to keep the company's battery constantly employed. The quartz crushed at the battery since the starting of the same on Thursday last.has shaped for over an ounce of gold per load, so that there is no doubt about its being of a remunerative quality. A cleaning up will probably take place some time next week.

May Queen.—A breaking down of the No. 4 reef took place today in the new winze just started from the floor of No. 3 level, with the result that strong dabs of gold were found in the quartz broken, but no picked stone of any account was secured. The reef itself appears to be rather small afe this point, its size being about a foot at present, but it no doubt will open out as tho winze proceeds downwards. A further breaking down of the same reef at No. 4 level took place this morning at the point where it has just been heaved into the footwall side of the drive by a small leader crossing it from the hangingwall side. Nice dabs of gold were seen, and the reef maintains its thickness of about three feet.

Moanataiakt. — Splendid sandstone country still prevails in the crosscut at the 150-feet level, but as yet no reef is to hand. Good progress, however, is being made in the extentiou of the crosscut, and according to the old working plans, there is every pre lability of a reel being intersected very shorwly. The prospects met with in the winze upon Jones' leader below the floor of the 100- feet level in the upper section of the mine have so far been of a very encouraging character, and some nico picked stone has been secured. The winze is now down a depth of about 16 feet, but during the last day or two the leader has not been quite so compact as it previously was. The country continues of a good description, and consequently the leader will probably assume its usual character very shortly. A good deal of water is making in the winze still, which somewhat retards the rate of progress. Operations upon the Dawn of Hope reef are without any particular change. The quartz obtained from it shows a little gold, but very little picked stone has come to hand this month so far.

WAIHI GRAND JUNCTION. Mr. J. W. Watker, manager of the Waihi Grand Junction mine, has received the following telegram from the superintendent of the boring operations:— •* March 19.—Bored 27 feet to-day. Total for two days, 43 feet. Splendid sandstone country, with quartz mixed. Everything working first-class.' "March 20.— Bore down 41 feet since last wire ; total depth, 204 feet ; softer country ; looking well." Mr. Walker anticipates striking the Waihi reef at 400 feet. The boring operations have been greatly hindered by a belt of hard country which had to be gone through, and which made the progress very slow.

JUST IN TIME G.M. CO. An extraordinary general meeting of shareholders in the Just in Time Gold Mining Company, Limited, was held yesterday at noon, Mr. Hellaby presiding. The directors were authorised to sell the company's mine and plant, and it was decided to wind up the company voluntarily, Mr. Gilinour being appointed liquidator.
