Last night's social in connection with the Auckland Caledonian Society, which took place in the Foresters' Hall, was fully up to the standard hitherto maintained by these entertainments; in fact, it was in many respects one of the best which has been held for some time. The chair was occupied by Mr. A. J. rover. There was a large attendance, and the hearty and frequent Applause showed that the audience was satisfied. The following is the programme:—Piano solo, "Ye Banks and Braes," Mrs. Kirk by ; song, "True to the Lust," Mr. 0. Marson ; song, " Thy Voice is Near Me," Miss Winter ; song, " The Flowers of the Forest," Mr. Ewan; recitation, "Out of the Mouth of Death," Miss Gardner; dance, "Sheantreaus," Mr. Wilson ; song, " So Near and Yet so Far," Mrs. Fox; song, " Mona," Miss Willis; double Highland fling, Master G. and Miss L. McLauchlan (encored); song, " Tit for Tat," Mrs. Murray; song, "My Life for Thee," (encored), Mr. (J. Marson; song, Mr. Gunthorpe. 1 The singing of "Auld Lang Syne" concluded the concert. Mrs. Kirkby and Mr. James Ness gave every satisfaction as accompanists. The usual dance followed, Mr. D.
