MESSES. HUNTER AND NOLAN'S ; WEEKLY

REPORT.

Grain, seeds, horsefeed: A steady 'demand has existed, and the supply has been sufficient; values were unaltered. We quote : Maize, on wharf,' Is lid to 2s bushel, ex store 2s 2d to 2s 3d; dun oats, Is 9d ; feed oats, 2s ; ryegrass, 2s 6d to 3s, new local 3s 6d to 4s 3d; Southern, 4s 3d to ss ; cocksfoot, 6s to 8s; oaten chaff, £2 5s to £2 15s ton bran, £212 6d ton. Horses : A good many have been brought forward, and found purchasers at prices showing no upward tendency in the market. Average numbers were brought under the hammer at the Durham Yards on Friday, and most of the lots were well competed for. At the annual sale of tram horses, held at Potter's Paddock, there was a good attendance of- buyers. Prices ruled lower than last year. We quote :—Hacks, trom £4 to £12 15s; light harness, £5 to £15; medium, £7 10s to £13 ; heavy draught, £11 10s to £21 10s. A pair of unbroken sold at £26.

Wool, hides, skins, tallow, bones : Average quantities met good demand at the Durham sale on Tuesday. We quote : —Ox hides, 2id to4£d lb; cow and steer, to 2|d; calfskins, 2d to 2Jd ; tallow, 16s to 173 cwt; bones, £3 ton; sheepskins, Is 3d to 2s 3d each ; pelts, 5d to Is ; lambskins, Is to Is Bci ; long and crossbred wool, iu fleece, 4fd to 5Jd lb ; lambswool, 5d to s£d ; pieces, 2jd to 3id. Cattle: There have been few stores brought forward, and little demand has existed. More fat beasts would have found purchasers at prices, in favour of the vendors. Dairies sufficient for requirements remained unchanged in value. At Newmarket on Tuesday competition was good throughout the sale. Prime ox beef reached £1 Is lOOlbs; cows, 16s to 18s ; some averages of fat steers wera £8 12s 6d, £7 17s lOd, £7 10s, £7 53,' £7, £6 13s 3d, £6 12s 6d ; cows, £6 ss, £5 10s, £5, £4 17s 6d, £4 ss. Sheep : A good many were penned at New market on Tuesday. Barely the previous week's prices were obtained. Wethers sold at from 9s 6d to lis 9d ; ewes, 5s 6d to 8s 6d; lambs, 4s 9d to 9s. . Pigs : Again onjy porkers were yarded, which sold at from '18s to £1 7s 6d each.

MESSES. A. BUCKLAND AND SONS' WEEKLY REPORT.

At the Haymarket, during the past week, oaten sheaves have brought 2s 9d and 3a; meadow hay, 2s the owt; oats, from Is 6d to Is 9d; maize, 2s 2d; barley, 3s 9d ; cocksfoot, 7s to 8s 6d ; ryegrass, 4s 6d to 6s the bushel. Bonedust, £5 15s. Chaff, £2 15s the ton; maize, in wholesale parcels on wharf, 2s the bushel.

On Friday, horses yarded numerously met a slow sale. Medium draught ranged from £6 to £10 10s; heavy draught, £12 to £21 each.

On Tuesday, hides sold freely. Ox hides ranged from 2Jd to 4§d; cow hides, 2d to 2fd ; calf skins, 2d to 2fd the lb. Tallow, los to 17s 6d the cwt. Felts, 6d to 2s 6d; lamb skins, lid to Is 5d each. Wool, 3fd to s£d th« lb. At Pokeno, on Monday, there were few cattle yarded; those were dull of sale at late values.

At Drury on Wednesday not many cattle were yarded ; there was a - good attendance of buyers. Dairy cows and grown steers were in request; calves at lower values were dull of sale.

At Remuera on Thursday young dairy cattle, near calving, yarded numerously, sold freely ; heifers, near calving, broueht from £3 15s to £7s; cows £5 5s to £6 7s 6d each. Fat aud youug calves in full numbers, were lower in price than hitherto. Fat cattle in full supply, 271 sold, were lower in price than last week ; prices for steers ranged from 17s to £1, but the greater number were from 18s to 19s the 1001b. Sheep in full numbers, 1715 yarded, were also at lower values. Well-fatted wethers ranged from 7s to 12a 6d ; ewes, 4s 9d to 10s each ; store ewes, 3s 3d ; store lambs, 3s ; fat lambs plentiful, 290 yarded, brought from 5s to 8s each. Pigs in less than average number were at late values, 53 sold. MESSRS. G. W. KINNEY AND SONS' REPORT. On Tuesday we cleared a large catalogue of hides, sheepskins, tallow, bones, and wool. Hides : Extra stout ox were eagerly competed for, aud sold up to 5Jd; stout, %l to 4d ; medium, 3d to 3£d ; thin ox and light steer, 2Ad to 2|d ; cowhides recovered the fall of the previous week, and sold from 2d to 2|d for good Hues; calf, 2Jd to 3d ; stags', Id to l£d lb ; damaged, nominal. Sheepskins ; Local green, Is 4d to Is 9d ; lambs', Is 6d to 2s each; country dry, no change. Tallow : Good paroels, 17s to 17a 6d ; medium, 15s to 16s cwt; rough fat, Id to lid lb Wool: Lambs', from 5d to 5Jd ; inferior lots, 4Jd to 4jd lb. Bones, from £2 10s to £3 ton. Bonedust: EM U supplies short of demand. Sales, £4 15s to £5 ton. Hams and bacon : The mild-cured " Morepork " selling freely, from 6|d to 7d equal numbers.

NEW ZEALAND LOAN AND MERCANTILE AGENCY COMPANY. Auckland Wool Stores. March 21. At our usual weekly auction on Tuesday last, we submitted a full catalogue of hides, and cleared the lot. Prices were firm, and heavy stout proved specially ready of sale. Current quotations for firm, good-conditioned hides are :—Priniest heavy stout, very scarce, 4.? d to 54d • heavy stout, 3fd to 4Jd ; medium, 2|d to 3jd; light, ljd to 2£d ; cow hides, ljd to 2Jd ; stags, about ljd ; calf-skins, ljd to 2Jd, For damaged hides only nominal figures are obtainable. Sheep-skins : The market continues in a rather unsatisfactory state. All that come forward are cleared at best prices, but the competition at present is not by any means brisk. i Wool : All oddments offering find a sale at about late rates.

ELTHAM AND HA WERA. Messrs. Nolan, Tonks, and Co's Report. At Ellham on the 12th inst., considerably more stock than advertised came forward. Bidding was slack, yet most lines were cleared afterwards. At Hawera, on 14th inst., the yards were well filled with cattle. There was a good attendance of the public, but very little competition, consequently a few pens went home unsold. We quote Eltham : Calves, 103 to 15s ; weaners, 18s to £1 2s 6d : yearlings, £1 13s 6d to £1 15s ; 2year steers, £2 7s 6d to £2 15s ; 2-year quiet heifers, £2 5s to £210s; 3-year spring calvers, £3 10s to £3 17s 6d ; store cows, £2 17s to £3: forward-condition cows, £3 3s to £3 7s 6d ; fat cows, £4 ; cows and calves, £3 15s At Hawera: Yearlings, mixed sexes, £1 10s to £115s; 2-year steers, £2 8s to £2 15s : 2£ to 3-year steers, £3 5s to £3 12s 6d: 3-year bullocks, £4 to £4 7s 6d; weaners, lbs to £1 Is; store cows, £2 16s to £3; forward-con-dition cows, £3 7s 6d to £3 16s; fat cows, £4 ; springing heifers, close, £4 10s to £5 10s; backward springers, £3 las to £4 10b ; cows and calves, £3 13s.

MANAIA. The Egmont Farmers' Union (Limited), Hawera, report on 14th March, 1895 : —At Manaia, on Wednesday, the 13th instant, we had a larger entry of stock than has been the case for some time past, most of the pens being filled. The attendance was good and bidding much brighter, so that nearly every line changed hands before leaving the yards. We quote : Forward steers, £3 18s 6d to £5 3s; two-year steers, £2 15s to £3 7s; eighteenmonths to two-year steers, £2 2s 6d to £2 7s 6d; yearlings £1 15s to £2 Is 6d; mixed weaners, £1 to £1 4s; fat cows, £3 17s to £4 Is; dairy cows and heifers, £3 153 to £4 5s ; cows, with calves at foot, £3 15s to £4 6s ; two-year heifers, £2 to £2 ss.

HIKTJRANGI. Messrs. Hunter and Wilson, at their Hikurangi monthly cattle sale, had 145 head of cattle yarded, and few remained unsold. Last month's prices were not sustained. We quote:—Three-year steers, £4 each; two-and-a-half-year ateers sold from £2 10s to £3 7s 6d; dry cows ranged from £1 17s to £3; eighteeu-months to two-year heifers, £117s to £2. Weaned calves sold freely. Beef steers made 17s to 18s per 1001b; and cows. 15s to 16s. Sheep : Store wethers were in keen , inquiry. Other sorts were dull of sale. -
