MORE COERCION.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,. The rights of the individual are being attacked on all sides, and now to cap all, his right to remain single is threatened— in short, he is to be coerced into marriage ! Single men on the look-out for work bare to stand aside in favour of the married, and the Government has virtually placed a premium upon matrimony, as we are told, "Go and get married, and you'll stand a better show." This is supposed to be a Socialistic Liberal Government, and as such to have as its ideal social equality; bub how can they claim to be consistent when they instruct their officials in all departments to pass over men who exercise only ordinary prudence in favour of the " much married." Has the single individual equal rights or has he not ? It may be possible that a married man has more voting power, but surely this would not influence a Socialistic Liberal Government bo swerve from justice.—l am, etc., One op the Unemployed.
