"a" battery.
The "A" Battery having decided to send three men to the New Zealand Rifle Association meeting, which is to be held at Wellington this year, the first competition took place at the Mount Eden Range on Saturday. The conditions were seven shots each at 200, 500, and COO yards range. The light was rather misty and wind troublesome, but some splendid shooting was made by Doughty, who got away with a lead of 13 points. The following are the scores :— 200 500 608 Gr. yds. yds. yds. tl. Sergeant Douehty .. „ 32 31 33 90 Gunner T*ylor .. ..27 30 26 83 Sergeant Parslow .. .. 29 29 25 83 Corporal Browne .. .. 30 27 22 79 Gunner Dobbs 31 18 29 78 Gunner Green&hields. . .. 29 29 17 75 AUCKLAND NAVAL ARTILLERY. The Auckland Naval Artillery fired, on Saturday, for a very handsome medal, presented to this corps by Mr. Teutenberg, and also a medal presented by Mr. F. Smith. Gunner J. Chambers succeeded in winning Mr. Teutenberg's medal with a score of 57, and Gunner McEnteer, with a (•core of 42, tied Gunner Little for Mr. Smith's medal, but having the greatest score at the longest range he takes the medal.
