SHARLAND AND CO. (LIMITED).

TO THE EDITOR. - Sir,—ln the report of Sharland and Co.'s (Limited) meeting published in the Herald, reference is made to a question asked by me at the previous meeting, and which with the chairman's reply I desired to have recorded in the minutes, bub the report does not state what thab question was, and thus ib has been suppressed a Becond time. As it is in my opinion an importanb one, and should have been entered in the minutes, notwithstanding the remarks of Mr. G. Aickin, 'I shall be obliged if you will grant me space to state that the question I asked was whether the proposed alterations in the articles of association had been drawn up ■ by the company's solicitor, or submitted for his approval. The chairman's reply was that they had not, but had been drawn up by himself. I thought it doubtful if a solicitor would have drawn articles placing the whole power and control of a public company in one man for life, which is practically the case in this instance. As a trustee representing a larger real interest than any of the shareholders, I desire to see matters properly conducted, and that is my excuse for troubling you. There are many other matters which I shall probably bring to the notice of shareholders who have been led into sending proxies to Charles Sharland to use the votes in his own interest, without knowing or being informed what the alterations were to bo.— am, etc., J. C. Da vies.
