AUCKLAND EDUCATION BOARD.

THE ACCOUNTS FOR THE YEAR.

At the meeting of the Board of Education yesterday the following general statement of receipts and expenditure for the year ending December 31,1894, was read :— RECEIPTS.

Office staff, salaries, £1113; clerical assistance, £64 7s; departmental contingencies, £805 6s 2d ; inspectors' salaries, £1887 10s ; inspectors' travelling expenses, £551 17s 2d ; examination of pupil teachers, £83 3s 7d; teachers' salaries and allowances (tor 13 months), £70,535 3s 4d; incidental expenses, £8151 12s 8d; scholarships, £1493 13s 9d; school buildings, £7572 7s 51; other expenses, £19 lis 3d; credit balance at end of year, £5083 14s 6d : total, £97,361 6s lOd. The following estimate of the income and expenditure for 1895 was submitted Income : Statutory capitation grant, £77,050; capitation grant for scholarships 'it Is 6rl, £1575; grant in aid of inspection, £650; income from reserves, £1700; local contributions, £.50; grant for school buildings, £8000: total, £89,025. Expenditure : Office staff and clerical assistance, £1200; inspectors' salaries, £2050; inspectors' travelling expenses. £700; departmental expenses, £740 ; teachers' salaries and allowances, £67,5:)0 ; grants to committees, £7000; scholarships. £1575 ; examination of pupil teachers, £80: school buildings (iu addition to balance of £4082 unexpended at December 3lst, 1894), £8000 : total, £88,815.

Liabilities—Grants for painting, drainage, and repairs, £349 163 4d ; due on sundry accounts, £150; capitation advanced from reserves, £120 : total, £019 17s 6(1. Credit balance, £381 18s sa. Building Fund account. —Assets : Cash in bank, £4081 183 7d; due from Kauaeranga and Remuera committees, £37 ; total, £4118 18* 6d.
