Italian troops defeated 10,000 Abyssinians at Coatit. The battle lasted all day. The natives lost heavily, but the casualties on the Italian side were slight.
A second day's fighting took place, after which the Abyssinians retreated. The Italians lost 102 men in the second engagement.
