AUCKLAND HARBOUR BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of the Auckland Harbour Board was held yesterday afternoon. There were present: Messrs. A. H. Nathan (chairman), M. Niccol, R. Farrell, J. McCabw, E. W. Alison, J. J. Holland, P. V. Houghton and T. Henderson. Shear Legs.—A deputation consisting of tfesanrs. H. Ford, Fraser, and Seagar, attended to urge the desirability of erecting •hear legs for lifting weights from 35 to 40 'one. It was pointed out that the shear >egs were necessary in order to keep pace rith the requirements of the port. The Other ports of New Zealand were well supplied with these necessities. The Northern Company's steamers would have to be sent to Wellington to have repairs executed in fche way of lifting out boilers, etc., unless eh ear legs were erected here. Mr. Farrell and the Chairman strongly supported the request of the deputation, and the matter was referred to the Works and Tariff Comtnittee. Reports.— reports of the Finance and Legal, and the Works and Tariff Committees, as already published, were adopted. ' Miscellaneous.Mr. .T. Russell wrote abandoning his lease of the fiahmarket, as the rent was too high. It was decided to put the market up for lease again by auction. The Board decided to refer an application for permission to erect a bathing shed on the Devonporb Beach, to the ' Works and Tariff Committee, with power to act. A letter from Mr. R. Jenkinson, of Park Road, with reference to the question of teredo-proof piles, was received.
