Wellington, Monday. The last game of the tournament was played to-day between Edwards and Barnes. The former played the queen's pawn opening. The game was fairly even up to the 22nd move when Barnes obtained a slight advantage. Shortly afterwards, however, Edwards ■sacrificed a pawn thereby ; obtaining a very strong attack. ■ Ultimately, owing to weak play on Barnes' part, Edwards secured his queen for a rook and Barnes resigned on the 32nd move. The brilliancy prize of £2 2a has yet to be awarded. The other special prize of a like amount goes to either Hookham, Barnes, or Pleasant. The complete Sonneborne points have not yet wen worked out.
