THE TREASURER'S VISIT TO EUROPE.

The Post says that the Treasurer should, before his departure from the colony, give some information to the public upon a series of questions which are duly formulated. The reason assigned is that information from a locum ttnens as to facts and figures cannot always be relied on. It would be thankful for information as follows :—Firstly : What amount of consols has been created ? to whom they have been sold and what has been done with the money paid for them ? Secondly: Where the million of money which it is understood has been placed to the credit of the advances to settlers' department has come from, and on what terms it has been raised? Thirdly: In what securities has the second million raised under the Bank of New Zealand Shares Guarantee act been invested, and what in interest ik is earning? Fourthly: The nature of the arrangement by which certain public moneys or securities have been deposited with the Colonial Bank of New Zealand, and the extent of such deposits ? Fifthly : Were the Treasury Bill*, which were to have been paid off last year, so paid off, or renewed, and the amount of Treasury Bills now outstanding ? Sixthly : The amount of the public revenue under its several heads for the nine months of the financial year now expired ? These are all important matters which Mr. Ward for his own sake should clear up and plaoe on public record before he hands over the Treasury to Mr. Seddon.
