COOLGARDIE PROSPECTING PARTY.
! Mr. R. C. Greenwood, Fork-street, secretary of the Coolgardie Prospecting Syndicate, has shown us a cablegram received from Messrs. Goodall and Firth, the prospectors for the syndicate, as follows : — "Chairman Coolgardie Syndicate (or Greenwood), Auckland, New Zealand, — Secured lease, Lake Cowan. Reef six feet. Good visible gold all through.—(Signed) Goodail and Firth, Coolgardie." On 21st November last Messrs. Goodall and Firth left Coolgardie with a thoroughly equipped party (including Mr. W. Hunt of the Shotover fame, two camels and driver), and made for Dundas. The last letter received reports their having pegged out two claims of 24 acres each, and speaks in very hopeful terms of the locality, water being procurable in abundance at a reasonable rate. Lake Cowan is 20 miles from Dundas, and about 100 miles from Coolgardie. The news conveyed in the cablegram should be very encouraging for the shareholders, whom, we understand, range from one end of the colony to the other.
