COOPERATIVE LABOUR. Sydney, January 5. The Government propose to carry out the work of thinning the lorest reserves under the co-operative system, and £25,000 has' been voted for the purpose.
AN UNEXPECTED CLAIMANT. .';- /' Sydney, January 5. In connection with the estate of the lata Robert Rand, worth about a quarter of a million pounds, a claimant in the shape of a son has put in an appearance. Rand was always supposed to be a bachelor, but ib is now alleged he . married fifty years ago, At present the estate is being administered by the brothers of the deceased.

A serious explosion has taken place ab Fremantle. Several pounds' weight of dynamite cartridges, stored near the Government magazine, exploded with berrifia ;.- force. • The iron doors of the magazine, were blown in, and several buildings in theT vicinity of tbe explosion sustained damage One man named.
