Cattle : A good many have been brought forward, particularly stores, of which a large number changed hands at prices in favour of the vendors tor grown steers, but purchases of youne stock were made at slightly reduced rates. At the Newmarket yards on Monday there was a large catalogue of stores which were well competed for throughout. Barely the usual number of fat beasts were yarded on Tuesday. A steady demand existed with little or no alteration in value. Beef sold at from £1 to £1 2s l(A)lb. Some averages of fat steers were £11 7s 6d, £10 9s sd, £9 2s4d, £8 lis Bd, £S 4s 6d, £8 3s 7d, £6 19s 9d, £0 17s 6d, £6 10s; cows, £7 ss, £6 15s, £6 ss; grown store steers, £4 10s to £5 15s; 2to 3-year-old steers, £3 to £4 53 ; yearlings to 18 months' old steers, £2 to £2 l7s 6d; dry cows, £2 to £4 10s.

Sheep : Sheep in average supply were well competed for and advanced Is per head in value. Wethers ranged from 12s 6d to £1 6s 6d; ewes, 12s to 16s 9d ; mixed sexes, 13s Cd to 17s; spring lambs, 6s 9d to 10s 9d. Pigs in limited number were competed for from £1 Is to £3 2s 6d each. MESSRS. On Friday horse stock sold freely: strong draft brought from £'20 to £29; medium draft, £10 to £17, and the stallion Duke of Argyle £215. Un Tuesday sound ox hides ranged from. 2id to sd; cow hides, H<l to 2|d ; calfskins, 2|d lb; tallow, ISa 3d cwt; bones, £2 10s to £3 ton ; butchers' skins, 3s to 53 each ; long wool, 6Ad lb. At Pukekohe on Monday a large number of quiet cows and heifers forward in calf were yarded, and met a steady demand; prices ranged from £3 10s to £6 ss; weaned calves, 20s to 30s; fat ewes, 13s 6d each, and a medium draught horse, £16. At Retnuera on Thursday, consequent on the inclement weather, there were no store cattle and few dairy cows yarded. Fatcalves, short of requirement, sold briskly. Fat cattle, in moderate supply, were in steady demand at last week's values, £1 Is to £1 2s 1001b. Fat sheep in less number than usual were firm at last week's values. Long-woolled wethers brought from 16s to £1 Is 9d ; ewes, 14s to 18s each ; longwool and Down crossed lambs, 7s 6d to lis 6d ; inferior, 4s to 6s eash. Pigs, in short supply, sold well.

MESSRS. G. W. BIKNFY AND SONS' REPORT. Oil Tuesday we cleared an extra large catalogue of hides, sheepskins, tallow, wool, and bones. Hides: Competition brisk. The larger part of the catalogue consisted of medium ox, which sold from 2§cl to .>d; stout from 3Ad to oil; cow, best lines, '2d to 2£d ; others, l|d to Iji; stags, Id to lgd lb; damaged, nominal. Sheepskins : Sales show strong advance, local green selling ironi 3s 8d to 5s 6d ; .picked, up to 6s 8d ; country, dry and salted, •2s 6d to 5s 4d each. Tallow : Best, 17s to ISs 9d ; medium, 14s to 16s cwt. Rough fat, l\d lb. Wool: Odd lots of broken fleeces and >ieces, 3d to 5Ad lb. Boues: £3 per ton. Bonedust: EMU, pure Queensland, two t>n lots and upwards, sacks, £3; cwt bags, £> 5s ton, f.o.b. rail or boat.
