LIGHT.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—Those who are so unfortunate as to be compelled, by their occupations, to pass through Auckland streets at a late hour oi the night, will welcome Mr Baumes excellent suggestion, to keep the street lamps burning until daybreak. At three o clock this morning, during a zephyr, with rain, the thoroughfares of the city were as dark as Egypt and it required considerable skill to evade misplaced postal pillars (corner «! Hobson and Victoria-streets, for example), irregular lamp-posts, and to safely negotiate the wonderful and varied kerbing. I trust that councillors will throw a flood of light upon this darkened city. The amount of money wasted over the Albert Park might well be devoted to a necessity of this kind.— I am, etc., Owl.
