V Captain Fjiirchild, of the llinemoa, which returned from Southern lighthouses and the West Coast, states that the weather experienced in the South was the worst he has met with for 30 years, snow and rain falling incessantly. In the West Coast Sounds the mountains and trees are covered with snow to the water's edge, consequently i the cold is intense. ; v " . " '
