MAGISTRATE'S COURT. -Friday. [Before Mr. H. W. Northcroft, S.M.J Judgment Summonses.—L. D. Nathan and Co. v. Lena Taylor, claim 43 18s (jd. Defendant did not appear or show cause. An order way made for tne payment of £'44 08 6d on or before the 17th of, August, 1894, in default 14 days' imprisonment. ~ Fenton and Co. v. Peter Peterson, claim £2.0s Id. _ Defendant did nod appear. ' An order was made for the payment of the whole amount .on or before the 28th of September, or 7 days' imprisonment. Prime, ; ' J.P.'s.] Alleged Larceny. — A youth named Robert Diver was charged with having, on the Ist of July, feloniously stolen two silver medals, one silver brooch, and a number of odd coins, of the total value of £1. the property of John Hinton. . The accused pleaded guilty, and was fined 20s and costs, or in default 7, daysV imprisonment with hard labour. ' , ' Alleged False Pretences —A young man named Edward Issitt was charged with having on July 25, at Auckland, unlawfully and knowingly, by false, pretences, to wit, a valueless order, obtained from James Gilmour goods and money to the amount of £3. The accused was also charged with obtaining goods from Samuel Martin and Joseph Hennessy by means of valueless cheques. " Sergeant Gamble conducted the prosecution. The prisoner elected ' to be ' dealt : with summarily and pleaded not cuilty. Evidence was given by Messrs. Gilmour, Alexander McLean (accountant at the Bank of New Zealand), - Samuel 'f. Martin (oabdriver)," E. Gould, and Detective Chrystal. : The Bench found the prisoner guilty on \ the ■ three charges and lined him £5 and costs, or in default 30 days' ' imprisonment on each, the sentences to run consecutively. v
