Mr. R. Arthur's Weekly Report.— A fair amount of business done; but little alteration in prices. Potatoes: Table sold at 23 to 2s 9d; various kinds of seed potatoes, 4s to 6a. Pumpkins, Is 4d to 2s; carrots. Kidney seed cannot be moved, off, stocks remaining large. Several lots of Hobart seed have arrived, but are not wanted for a while. Cereals are quiet, business being restricted to retail lots. Bacon and hams, whilst fairly plentiful, do not meet keen competition, except prime Canterbury, factory cure. Butter maintains values. The Island and Tasmanian steamers have brought fair shipments of fruit. Prices, however, are lower than anticipated. Buyers complain of inability to sell readily.
