Wrixon seconded* a motion, "That Great Britain should be asked to subsidise Canada's Atlantic mail service, the colonies supporting the cost of the Pacific service. The Canadian Government has been requested to ascertain the cost of the Pacific cable. The Conference is now closed. London, July 10. The Daily Chronicle considers that it will be impossible for Great Britain to adopt a preferential tariff against foreign goods. Numbers of the members of the House of Commons have urged the Premier to support the Pacific cable anil the mail service on condition that the colonies contribute to the naval defence of the Empire. - ' V*
