TECHNICAL INSTRUCTION.

' i ' We have several times referred approvingly to the movement in this city with ; the view of furnishing technical instruc-tnun-Whictixwuiu vi uiado uruiiauin v-y , young men engaged in learning trades m Auckland. Such classes are essential if we are to keep on a level with other parts of the colony. At the other large centres lads can obtain a training in the various kinds of drawing, in chemistry, physics, etc., which will render them more efficient in their trades, and perhaps enable them to attract to their localities certain businesses. The subject lias now been taken up by the College Council and other bodies which can bring it to a practical issue. Sir Maurice O'Korke, the chairman of the College Council, has devoted a consider able amount of attention to the subject, and at a meeting yesterday brought up a comprehensive report, which will be considered at a future meeting of all interested. The College Council can give great assistance in this matter, and we have 110 doubt will do so. We print the report of the committee in another column, and have no doubt that it will lead to the institution of technical classes which will be of great benefit to Auckland.
