Lillky, addressing an enormous meeting, said he looked forward to the salvation of Australasia by women's influence on Parliamentary morals. He trusted that in the near future the women of Queensland would re-model the Parliament of the colony, as they would eventually do in the rest of what must become a great ; Australian federation. THE COOLGARDIE HUSH. Adelaide, April 24 One hundred and fifty disgusted miners have returned from the Coolgardie rush. One asserts that nob one-tenth of the men on the field are making tucker. MINING ON PRIVATE PROPERTY. Sydney, April 24. In the Legislative Assembly the Minister of Lands introduced a new Mining on Private Property Bill to replace the measure emasculated by the Legislative Council. MARINE BOARD CONFERENCE. Hobart, April 24. The Marine Board Conference has agreed that the cost of maintaining lights shall be based on population. Queensland was allotted 19 highway lights, Tasmania 9, Victoria and New South Wales 8 each, and South Australia 6. It was agreed to recommend that the double survey of ships by the Marine Boards and the Emigration authorities is unnecessary. ACTION AGAINST A SOCIALIST JOURNAL. Sydney, April 24. "The Justice," a Socialistic weekly new« paper, in its last issue made a terrific onslaught on Mr. Slattery, the Minister of Justice. To-day Mr. Slattery instructed his solicitors to institute legal proceedings against Thomas Dodds, a Socialist) leader, and the other proprietors. THE CANADIAN CONFERENCE. Sydney, April 24. It is announced that Mr. Suitor will represent New South Wales at the Cana, dian Conference. DECLINE IN VICTORIAN EXPORTS # Melbourne, April 24. The value of the exports for the March quarter decreased by £1,149,000. The de clino, which is engaging the serious attention of merchants, is attributed to the high wharfage rates and the Primage Tax, which are having the effect of making Sydney the pivot of Australian trade. RELEASE OF A NOTORIOUS CONVICT. Sydney, April 24. James Jamieson, alias Thunderbolt, r notorious criminal, has been released from gaol, after serving a sentence of over 30 years. THE FEDERAL COUNCIL. " Melbourne, April 24.
