LAW AND POLICE.
POLICE COURT.— [Before Mr. R. S. Bush, S.M., and J. Callnan, J.P.] Drunkenness.—Two first offenders were fined 5s and costs, and a third was remanded for medical treatment. Alleged Broaching op Cargo.— Frank Anderson and Otto Pouisen, two articled seamen belonging to the barque Lottie Moore, were charged with having on the 21st April, whilst at the port of Auckland, feloniously entered the hold of the said vessel and therefrom broached goods to the value of £9, the property of Edward Watts. Sergeant Gamble appeared for the prosecution, and Mr. J. O'Meagher for the defendants. On the application of Sergeant Gamble a, remand to Wednesday was granted. Alleged False Declaration.— elderly man named John Smith was charged with having on the 17th October, 1893, at Auckland, unlawfully made a false declaration before F. E. Bautne, an officer authorised by law to permit such a declaration, by asserting that a certain Crown grant had been* destroyed by fire. Mr. E. Mahony appeared for the prosecution, and Mr. J. O'Meagher for the defendant. On the application of Mr. Mahony the defendant was remanded for eight days, bail being allowed accused |n bis own recognisances £50 and two sureties of £25 each. . Stray Horse.— permitting his horea to wander in Sale-street, William J. Moore was fined 03 and costs 7s. Alleged Larceny. — Alfred Weippert pleaded guilty to having stolen a pair of' trousers valued 15s, the property of Thomas Donovan. The accused wad sentenced to three months' imprisonment with hard labour. '»' - ; ■■
