Mr. McPherson, M.A., late inspector of Roman Catholic Schools, will read an essay on ' The Civilisation of Ancient Greece," before the Athenaeum Literary and Debating: Society this evening, in the Y.M.C.A. rooms. A grand concert will be given in St. John's Wesleyanschoolroom, by St. John's Boys Club this - evening, m celebration of their first anniversary. The programme consists of tableaux, nutations, songs, glees, and duets, provided by the members. The club commenced with a membership of 17 and has now 56. ' : The final practice of the Auckland Orchestral Union will take place to-morrow evening at Cook-street Hall.
