THE RECENT CHRISTCHURCH SUICIDE.
BAD LIQUOR. [BY TKLBORAPir.—PRRSS ASSOCIATION.] Christohurch, Saturday. An inquesb was held this morning on Benjamin Midgley, who was found hanging dead in his workshop on Thursday. The verdict was that the deceased hanged himself while temporarily insane through drink. At the inquest Constable Doughan produced a small bottle containing brandy, which he had found near the body. The coroner, after tasting the liquor, directed the officer bo forward it bo theChristchurch police station, with a view to having it analysed, as he declared ib to be " filthy stuff—enough to poison anybody." The oonstable stated he had not yet been able to ascertain where the liquor had been obtained.
