Consumption now carries off five per 1000 persons in France, or 170,000 a year. In England the mortality has fallen to two per 1000. The towns where this scourge is most intense are Paris, where the mortality from it is one out of five deaths; Dijon and Nancy, where-it is one crab of seven ; and Marseilles, where ib is one oub of six.
