AUCKLAND. MESSES. ALFRED BUCKLAND AND SONS' REPORT. At the Haymarkefc during the past week, meadow hay has brought from 2a 6d to 3a 9d; oaten sheaves, 2s 3d the cwt; straw, 14s to 19s the load; maize, on the wharf, in wholesale parcels, 2s 4d to 3s 6d, in store 2s 8d; oats, Is lOd to 23; ryegrass, 4s 3d; cocksfoot, 7s 6d the bushel; clovers, from 8d to Is the lb. Bonedust, £5 to £6 the ton. On Friday, horses yarded in full numbers, were dull of sale, and at lower values. Draught colts were from £10 10s to £16; the coach brought £10. On Tuesday, hides, skins, and wool pitched in full quantity, fully kept late values. Heavy ox hides brought from 4Jd to 4gd; medium, 2£d to 3|d ; light ox and cow hides, lfd co 2id; calf skins, 2£d the lb. Tallow, 19s and 20s the cwt. Sheep skins, up to 3s 9d ; lamb skins, 2s each. Wool: About 14 bales sold from s|d to 6£d; locks and pieces, 3d to 4£d the lb. At Pokeno, on Monday, a small muster of stock, mostly springing heifers and calves, sold freely. Prices for springers ranged from £4 to £5 103 ; calves, 17s to 30s each. At Drury, on Wednesday, a large muster of cattle, with the exception of springing cows, were dull of sale; calves and yearlings were lower than hitherto; about one-fourth. Grown stores fully kept their values; grown cattle brought from £4 15s to £5; springers, £5 to £7 10s ; calves, 14s to 28s each. At Remuera on Thursday dairy cows in full numbers were required, those at their profit ranged from £6 5s to £7 153 each. The store cattle advertised sold better than at last week's sales. Grown steers brought from £4 5s to £5 2s 6d ; two-year-olds, £3 10s ; quiet dry cows, £2 6s to £3; calves, 23s ; well-bred yearling heifers, 44s to 56s each ; fat and fresh dropped calves, in usual supply, were without alteration in values. Fat cattle in number exceeding requirements, 280 yarded, were at lower values, prices ranged from 17s to 19s the 1001b, and 40 were withdrawn, prices for steers ranged from £4 5s to £9; cows, £3 5s to £5 17s 6d each ; the greater reductions in value were on light-weight and inferior fatted cattle. Sheep in usual number, 1300 yarded, mostly wethers, scarcely kept last week's values. Prices for wethers ranged from 83 to 14s; ewes, 6s to lis each; lambs, in short supply, brought from 6s 6d to lis each. Pigs, in usual number, 65 penned, were at late values; bacon pigs were from 55s to 85s; porkers, 16s to 375; weaners, lis ; suckers, 7s and 8s each. MESSRS. HUNTER AND NOLAN'S REPORT. Grain, seed, horsefeed, seeds, etc. : Stocks of grain, hay, and chaff have been large, and there has scarcely been an adequate demand. Seeds have been scarce. We quote Oats, 2s 2d to 2s 4d bushel; maize, 2s 6d ; wheat, 2s 6d to 2s 8d ; barley, 2s 6d to 2s 8d; carrots, 27s 6d ton ; bran, £2 15s to £3; oaten chaff, £2 5s ton ; ryegrass, 4s 6d bushel; cocksfoot, 7s 6d to 8s 6a. Horses; There has been a stir in the market. More were brought forward and found purchasers than usual at fully the previous week's values. The Durham Yards on Friday were wellfilled, and there was good competition throughout the sale. We quote : Hacks at from £3 10s to £9 10s ; light harness, £6 5s to £12 IDs ; medium draught, £8 5s to £16 153 ; heavy draught, £12 10s to £22 10s; unbroken colts and fillies suitable for hacks and light harness, £5 5s to £9 weeds, £1 to £1 103. Wool, hides, skins, tallow, bones: A moderate catalogue was disposed of on Tuesday at the Durham Yards, aud the demand was brisk. We quote: Extra stout ox worth 4Jd to 5Jd lb; stout, 3Jd to 4d; medium," 3d; steer and cows, 2d to 2§ ; calf skins, 2|d to 3kl; kip, 2d to 2Jd ; damaged hides, $d to Id lb ; bones, £3 ton ; tallow, 18s to 21s cwt; sheepskins, 2s 3d to 4s each; pelts, Is 3d to Is lid ; lambskins, Is 3d to 3s 3d: wool, fleece, 6d to 6|d lb. Cattle : The number brought forward has been up to the average; prices did not alter materially, excepting, in fat stock, which were again in favour of the purchaser. The Newmarket yards were moderately full on Tuesday. Dairy cows ranged from £5 to £8 iOs; stores at previous quotations. Ox beef, from 18s to 193 1001b; cow, 16s to 18s, Some averages of fat steers were : £8 16a, £8 Is, £7 9s 2d, £7 6s 4d, £7 2s 6d, £6 17s Bd, £6 133 9d, £6 33. Cows : £5 ss, £5 Is 3d, £5, £4 17s 6d. A large number of veal calves were disposed of at from 6s to 403 each. Sheep were penned in average numbers at Newmarket on Tueiday. Competition was steady up to quotatious, but purchasers could not be persuaded to advance. Wethers, 83 3d to 13s 6rt ; ewes, 8s 6d to lis 3d ; mixed sexes, 6s 6d to 10s 3d ; lambs, 6s 6d to 10s 3d. Pigs : A ?ood many were yarded, and sold at from 2M to 3d lb live weight, prices ranging from 6s to 40s each. MESSRS. G. W. BINNEY AND SONS* REPORT. At our weekly sale of hides, sheepskins, tallow, bones, etc., competition was brisk, and a large catalogue cleared. Picked extra stout, 5d to s£d ; heavy stout, 4d to 4sd , stout, 3|d to 3id; sheety ox and steer, 2id to2|d; cow, good clean lines, to 2Jd; medium, 2d ; wet and sloppy, ljd to ljd ; kip, 2d to 2&d : calf, 3d to 3£d; stags, Id to ; damaged of all classes ac nominal prices. Sheepskins : Local green and best country from 3s to 3s 6d; medium, 2s 6d to 2s 9d ; dry from 4id to 5Jd per lb ; lambs from 2s 6d to lis 6d each. Tallow : Best, 20s to 225; ordinary, 17s to 18s per cwt; rough fat, ljd to l?d per lb. Wool: Lambs, 6d to 6^d, locks and pieces, 2Jd to 5d per lb. Bones, £3 per ton.
