Phillips, arrived from Sydney, berthing at the Queen-street Wharf. Of the passage, Mr. W. Sadler, the purser, to whom we are indebted for our files, reports that the steamer left Sydney at 5 p m. on the loth inst., and cleared the heads at 6 p.m. the same day. Passed the Three Kings at 8 p.m. on the loth, and rounded the North Cape at 10 a.m. on the 17th, arriving at the wharf as above. Experienced fine weather with variable winds for first three days, thence strong head winds and seas till arrival. The Talune leaves for Southern Porta, Hobart, and Melbourne on Friday afternoon at two o'clock. . Yesterday morning the Union S.S. Company's steamer Australia, Can tain John Gibb, arrived from Wellington. Napier, and the Bast Coast, bringing a number of passengers and a cargo consisting of wool, tallow, etc. She left Wellington on the 11th inst. and called at Napier, Gisborne, and the usual ports on the way. Moderate weather was experienced during the trip. In the afternoon the Australia went up to the Sugar Works, Chelsea, and took in consignments for the coast. She leaves for the East Coast, Napier, and Wellington this afternoon at 2 clock. Last night the Northern S.S. Company's steamer Argyle arrived from Mercury Bay and Kuaotunu, with a number of sacks of kauri gum and a quantity of sundries. She left for the Great Barrier at midnight, and returns this evening. The Northern S.S. Company's steamer Chelmsford arrived from Whakataue, Tauranga, and Whanpmata yesterday afternoon, with the following cargo : 213 sacks maize, 21 bales flax, 10 sacks kauri gum, 1 horse, and sundries. She leaves for Whanganifita and Whakataue tomorrow evening. Last evening the Union S.S. Company's steamer Mararoa left for Sydney, with a large number of passengers and a quantity of general cargo. The steamer Tasmania left for Sydney last evening with a very full passenger list, and a quantity of general cargo. During her stay in Sydney this trip the steamer is to be docked for cleaning and overhaul. Last evening the Northern S.S. Company's steamer Waiotahi left for Tauranga and Opotiki. The Northern S 8 Company's steamer Wellington left for Whangarei last night. Yesterday the brigantine Indiana was cleared at the Customs for the Jtiuoo Group, where she loads guauo for La uncos ton. She hauled out into the stream last eveuing, and will sail as soon as the wind proves favourable. H. M.s. Tauranga is to come out of the Calliope Dock to-morrow evening, and will take up an anchorage at the man-of-war ground. The Devonport Ferry Company's steamer Alexandra is upin Niooll's slip at the North Shore for general overhaul. Yesterday the schooner Welcome was taken into the Auckland Graving Dock for cleaning and overhaul, preparatory to leaving for an island cruise. To-day the brigantine J. C. Hamleu, jun.. will complete her loadimr for New York of kauri gum and flax. She will clear at the Customs iu the afternoon, and sails as soon as the wind is favourable. On the 13th instant the schooner Dunedin arrived at Lyttelton from Greymouth with a cargo of timber. The three-masted schooner Jerfalcon, Captain d. Murdoch, called off Aitutaki on the 6th instant. She left Dunedin on February 19, and Niue (Savage Island) on March 18, having on board a number of labourers from the latter place for the guano depot at Maiden Island, The Union S.S. Company's steamer Taieri leaves for Sydney to-morrow night. Yesterday the barque Kassa arrived at Wellington from Newcastle. The steamer Coptic left Wellington for Napier yesterday, to load frozen meat, etc., for London. She proceeds thence to Lytteiton to complete her loading. The Canadian mail steamer Warrimoo arrived at. Sydney from Vancouver, Honolulu, and Fiji on the 10th inst. The three-masted schooner Adelaide sailed direct for Sydney from the Thames yesterday with 130,000 leet sawn white pine timber, loaded at the Kirikiri sawmill.

THE HINEMOA. Yesterday morning the Government steamer Hinemoa, Captain Fairchild, arrived in harbour from her Island cruise, having His Excellency the Governor, Lady Glasgow and family and suite as passengers. The Hinemoa left Auckland on March 20, ami reached Sunday Island on the 23rd. leaving there the same day. Rarotonga was sighted on the evening of the 28fcb, and anchored in Avatiu harbour on the morning of the 29th. Remained there until the evening of the sth instant, when a start was made for Mangaia, which was reached on the morning of the 6th. Left Mangaia for New Zealand on the evening of the 7th. Macaulay and Curtis Islands (Kermadecs) were visited on the 13th, a short stay being made at both places, and tile steamer left for this port. Whangaroa was made on the morning of the loth, and the day spent there, leaving for Russell the same evening, which was reached the next morning, and left again in the evening, the steamer arriving as above. The Hinemoa left for the northern lighthouses yesterday afternoon. THE BUTESHIRE. The New Zealand Shipping Company, to whom the vessel comes under charter to load for London, are in receipt of cable advices to the effect that the steamer Buteshire is to sail from Sydney for this port to-morrow. She may, therefore, be expected to arrive early on Tuesday morning. This steamer is the most recent addition to Messrs. Tnrnbull, Martin, and Co.'s Shire fleet, and is a sister ship to the Perthshire This is her maiden voyage, and she is intended to trade in connection with her owners' Australian and New Zealand service, established for the carriage of dead meat, fruit, and dairy produce to the London market. The Buteshire is fitted up with the Linde improved ammonia system of refrigeration. The holds are capable of storing 100,000 sheep, besides dairy produce and fruit. She brought about 4000 tons of general cargo from London, for Melbonrne and Sydney, and on discharge took in a consignment of 10,000 carcases of frozen mutton at the latter port, and proceeded on to Brisbane, where 1000 tons of beef were shipped. She afterwards called at Rockhampton. where a further shipment of GOO tons of beef was taken on board, and the steamer calls at Sydney to coal. On arrival here the steamer will take in a consignment of frozen mutton from the Auckland Freezing Company's works, and will proceed South to complete her loading for London.
