Seeds, grain, horsefeed: Sowing having commenced there is a den Sand for grass an clover seeds, grain £ a steady demand ant sufficient quantities. There was an oven supply of oaten chaff. We quote oats 2s 6£ to 2s 8d bushel; maize, 2s 9d; barley, 2s 6di fowl wheat, 3s: bran, £3 10s ton ; oate< chaff, £2 10s to £3 5s ton ; rye, 4s 6d to 6s 6S bushel; cocksfoot, 6s 9d to 7s 6d. Horses : A steady demand has existed, and a good many changed hands without material alteration in value. An average number were entered tor disposal under the hammer at the Durham yards on Friday. For strangers competition was good but foe other sorts- slow. We quote hacks, from £4 to £10 10s; light harness, £5 10s to £12 12s 6d; medium draughts, £7 5 a to £14; heavy draughts, £9 15s to £24 10s ; weeds, £1 5s to £2 7s 6d. Wool, hides, skins, tallow, bones : There was no auction sale on Tuesday in consequence of the last of the series of" wool sales being held at the Wool Exchange, on Wednesday, notwithstanding that a limited number of bales v/ere catalogued, there was a good attendance of foreign buyers . and bidding was spirited up to valuations, which were slightly in favour of the purchasers as compared with the previous sale; Merino ranged from 5Jd to 6£d ; crossbred 6M to 7id; longwool 6d to 6|d; Jambs wool sfa to 7[id; pieces 3d to s|d; locks and pieces 2d to 3Jd lb. Cattle: Increased numbers were brought forward. There was an improved demand, and prices were slightly in favour of the vendors ; the M ewmarket yards were fairly supplied on Tuesday. Competition was steady throughout the sale; dairy stock were a shade gher; stores unaltered; beef ranged from 19s to 21s 1001b. Some averages of fat steers were £8 ss, £7 189 d, £7 lis ad, £7 7s Bd, £7 8s 3d, £7 Is 3d, £6 18 Id, £6 0s 6d, £5 17s 2d; cows, single ones, £7 12s 6d, £512 a 6J, £5 6s 10d, £4 10s, £3 2s 6d. Sheep : The Newmarket pens were well filled on Tuesday, and a steady demand existed thronghout the sale; wethers sold at from 10s to 14s 3d ; ewes, 6s 3d to 10s 3d ; lambs, 4s 9d to 9s 6d. At the Haymarket during the past week meadow hay sold from 2s to 2s 9a the cwt. Oaten sheaves, Is 9d to 2s. Maize on wharf, 2s Gd to 2s 7d per bushel. Ex store, 2s 9d. On Friday horses were yarded numerously. A shipment of 50 horses from Sydney were all sold at priced ranging from £8 to £8 17a 6d. A pair ot draught horses brought £52. At the sale of cattle and implements held at Mr. Carpenter's, Papatoitoi, there was a full attendance of buyers. Dairy cows sold at £4 to £7 15s each, prices throughout being satisfactory. There was rather a small sale at Pokeno, but everything offered was sold. On Wednesday at Drury there was a very large muster of cattle, a number being passed, but good prices were obtained for those sold. On account of the wool sale the usual hide and skin sale was not held. At Remuera on Thursday dairy cows in full Dumber were at late values, those at profit ranged from £5 5s to £7 2s 6d. The store cattle advertised also kept late values; fairly bred steers, three to four years old, were from £3 15s to £4 173; two to three years old, £3 5s to £3 10s; two-year-old heifers, £210 a ; weaned calves, 20s to 30s each. Calves in usual number sold freely without alteration in price. Fat cattle in full number, but a large proportion of lighter weights than usual, 232soid, were from ISs to 20s the 1001b : the heavier cattle bringing the best price. Sheep in short supply, 182 yarded, were required and advanced in price Is 6d each; prices for wethers were from 10s to 14s 6d ; ewes, 7s 6d to 13s each; 126 lambs penned, brought from 7s to lis each. About 50 well-bred pigs, mostly porkers, ranged from 22s to 38s ; young pigs, 8s 6d to 15s each. MESSRS. G. W. BINNEV AND SON'S REPORT. On Wednesday we cleared a catalogue o£ 162 bales of wool. There was a large attendance of buyers, and prices were equal to the last sales. First crossbred sold from 7d to 7Jd; medium, 6£d to 6fd ; inferior, sfd to 6d; longwool, to 7|d ; lambs' ranged from 6d to 7|d ; locks and pieces, from 34d to s£d lb. Maize: Market dull. We are holding several lines for improvement in value, as growers assert that stocks are getting low. Bacon : Supplies very short. Christchurch "new process cure" will be to hand next week. Cheese : Sold a line of Tarauaki at 5d lb. No sale of hides held this week on account of the wool sales.
