PRESENTATIONS.

A presentation' was made on Feb. 7 to Dr. Coom, who is about to proceed South. A number of his Auckland friends met at the Auckland Club, and presented him with a handsome gold watch and a pair of telescope binocular glasses as a mark ot regard and esteem. The presentation was made by Mr. A. E. Devore, on behalf of the friends, in a neat speech. Dr. Coom, who was taken somewhab by surprise by the demonstration and the handsome gifts presented to him, replied in appropriate terms. It must be gratifying to Dr. Coom, on leaving our city, to find his fellow-citizens thus manifesting their goodwill towards him, and wishing him every success in his future career.

The members of the Ponsonby branch of the St. John Ambulance Association felt that they ought to express in some way their recognition and appreciation of the kindly and helpful services of their medical lecturers, Drs. A. O. Knight and A. C. Purchas. Subscriptions were readily forthcoming, and, as a result-, a handsome and suitably-engraved sovereign case has been presented to Dr. Purchas, and two valuable volumes to Dr. Knight. At the usual meeting of Court; Nil Desporandum, No. 6495, A.OF., on Feb. 13 in the Foresters' Hall, Newton, a very interesting ceremony took place. Brother Chisman, D.C.R., presented, on behalf of the Auckland District, to Brother Aleider, P.D.C.R., a very handsome certificate, neck ribbon, and marble clock. Mr. John Drummond, chief stock inspector, was presented by the Wairarapa settlers with a purse of 100 sovereigns and an illuminated addross on his removal to Hawke's Bay. Mr. William Dymock, lata general manager of the National Bank, has been presented by the colonial staff with a massive inkstand of New Zealand silver, suitably inscribed, and a purse of sovereigns as a tribute of respect on the occasion of his retirement.

On the Bth February the members of the literary and mechanical departments of the Wellington Evening Post, through the editor (Mr. E. T. U-illon) made a complimentary presentation of a marble timepiece, bearing an inscribed silver plate, and a set of carvers to the sub-editor (Mr. F. W. Weston), who was leaving next morning for Auckland in order to be married and enjoy a month's holiday. All sorts of good wishes were expressed by his coadjutors.

AC the termination of the St. Stephen's Sunday-school, Ponsonby, on Sunday, the 11th February, Mr. A. G. Bennett, who h&s been connected with the school from infancy, and has for a number of years acted as the school treasurer, but who is now leaving Auckland to practice his profession a3 a solicitor at Manaia, was the recipient of an illuminated address and two handsocae books entitled " Memoirs by Rev. J. Paton " and Cruden's "Concordance." Mr. Johnstone, the school superintendent, made the presentation on behalf of the teachers, and said they were sorry to lose Mr. Bennett, and all wished hiui every success in his new home. Mr. Bennett replied, and thanked them for their kind feeling towards him, and for the useful present they had just made. On February 3 Mr. E. Bartley.'lof the artists' staff (lithographic department) of the New Zealand Herald printing establishment, was presented by his co workers with a handsome greenstone Maltese cross, suitably mounted, as a token of personal regard on his approaching departure from the colony. Mr. Bartley proceeds to Paris, in order to study the higher branches of his profession. Our Thames correspondent, telegraphing on February 6, says:—"Bandmaster George Smith, of the Naval Artillery Band, was this evening presented with a handsome ' photographic shield containing' cabinet photographs of all the members (3 the band, numbering 24 all told. Ther shield is a beautiful one, and prepared by Messrs. Foy Brothers. Lieutenant Grant made the presentation on behalf of the men." After ten o'clock mass on January 28 the members of the choir of St. John the Baptist's Church, Parnell, assembled at the residence of the Rev. Father Lenih-an for the purpose of making a presentation to Miss Anastasia Sullivan, a member of the choir, on the eve of her marriage. The present consisted of a silver-mounted butter dish, and the presentation was made by the Rev. Father Lenihan in very appropriate and happy terms. On the eve of Mr. Moss Levy's departure from Auckland a number of his more intimate friends gathered at the Albert Hotel on January 31 and presented him with an illuminated address and a souvenir. Mr. Levy suitably replied. At the conclusion of the meeting of the Newton Borough Council on February 5, Mr. S. C. Brown, the late Mayor, was presented with a handsomely-illu-minated address by the councillors in recognition of his services, during his term or office.

John Drummond, late Chief Inspector of Stock in the Wairarapa, now removed to the Hawke's Bay district, was presented on Feb. 6 with an influeiitially-signed testimonial, and purse of 100 sovereigns, as a mark of esteem from the settlers of Wairarapa. Mr. Dymock, on retiring from the management ot the National Bank, Dunedin, was presented by the customers with a gold watch and chain and a purse of sovereigns. A number of friends representing very many other well-wishers of Messrs. J. W, Williams, T. Sydney Williams, and Ken. S. Williams, of the Bay of Islands County, met together in the Agricultural Hall, Waimate North, on January 25th, to bid them farewell. About fifty gentlemen sat down to a very well-got-un dinner, supplied by Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Cnappell. The Rev. P. Walsh, as President of the Bay of Islands Pastoral and Industrial Association, occupied the chair. ; Testimonials were presented to the three gentlemen first named, and their healths were heartily drunk, the recipients approoriafciV responding.
