N.Z. DAIRY PRODUCE.

A HOPEFUL OUTLOOK. Press Association.—Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. '" Sydney, January 7. Mr. Valentine, the New Zealand dairy expert, left by the Tarawera for Wellington. He has just completed a visit of inspection in Victoria and New South Wales. Mr. Valentine considers that although these colonies possess modern appliances, there yet appears to be something: wanting, and there is a great disregard in matters of detail. So far as his experience goes New Zealand has nothing to fear from competition with these colonies. With the advantage of its climate New Zealand, he says, must come to the front; but while there is every hope of this, producers must not forget that uniformity in grading is absolutely imperative. In connection .with the fraudulent sale of margarine mixtures as- butter, which, imposes a serious loss 'on the producers of colonial butter, Mr, Valentine suggests that the several colonies with their respective dairy associations should federate, with a view of bringing pressure to.bear. on. the Imperial Government to enforce the i existing Acts, and, if possible, construct a new Act which would have a more repressive effect on fraudulent dealers.
