THE STORY OF A BOY BURGLAR.

One of those racy low-life" stories which the Telegraph tells so well appeared in that journal the other day:—"' Whew 1' whistled William Warren, boy-burglar, when the detectives told him that £600 was missing from the office into which he is accused of having burglariously entered, 'as much as £600? Then it was a swindle, for Corby said it was only £140. . I had £80 of it myself.' And in the fulness of his heart, aided, no doubt, by a feeling of revenge at the thought that he had not had his proper share of the plunderthough if his story be true that he had been told the sum was £140, his allotment of £80 was considerably more than half— proceeded to tell Detec-tive-Sergeants Divall and Gentle how Mr. Johnson's warehouse in Bermondsey was robbed. 'It was Corby and me,' he said, ' who broke into the place, and the other two stopped outside to watch. It was Corby took the money out of the safe ' Then he added, in the same confidential way, ' You've caught me all right, but how did you find out I was in this part of the world ? Who told you I' was in Deptford ? You won't find any money on me, only about four bob. j I've lost tjio'i'e-ii/on horseracing, but 1 enjoyed a bit at Brighton and Paris rates. According to what I read in the, papers Corby must have had four tineas much as me, the dirty dog. I gave Isaacs and Evans £3 each out of my lot for keeping a look out, but I expect Corby has got his loot stowed away ready for when he comes out.' At tho Southwark Police Court Mr. Slade asked him if ho had anything more to say why ho should not be committed for trial, and the sporting and youthful burglar loftily replied, ' Oh, nothing; they are-all a nice lot.' Warren, like many other spendthrifts, will find his day of reckoning at the London Sesaiona."
