THE INFANTICIDE CASES. Melbourne, January 5. A Melbourne detective has made a full investigation into the- antecedents of the woman Knorr, who lies under sentence of death for child murder. In his detailed reports he states that she is a .woman of immoral character, of hardened nature, but he found it impossible to trace with any ! degree of accuracy the number of children who had been entrusted to her care. The condemned woman is now much calmer, and more resigned to her fate. The execution is fixed for Monday week., A BOY SHOT DEAD. Melbourne, January 5. A boy named Jose was imitating a man named Bennett in a street in Geelong, when the latter * procured a rifle and shot the boy dead.
