NEW ZEALAND'S EXPORTS,

This Times draws attention to a serious mis-statement affecting , the, colony as a whole, which : has ; found circulation at home, and has been reproduced in a correspondent's letter in New' Zealand. Mr, Coghlan, ; the Government statist of .New South Wales, is represented to have' said thab New Zealand's exportu have been in part rated twice over, and thab the amount should be drought down from £9,400,000 to £7,771,000. This has been commented on to the manifest disadvantage of this colony. The -Times states that Mr. Coghlan never said anything of the kind, but merely that the latter figures represented New Zealand's exports to places other than Australia, and the first'figures the total exports, including those to Australia. The Times calls on the Government to instruct the Agent-General to lose no time in setting matters right before mischief is done. ; Respecting the misrepresentation of New Zealand exports referred to, the Premier states that he . does not think that Mr. Coghlan'a misrepresentations have attracted any attention ab home, or the AgentGeneral would have called his attention to it. However, the Government intend placing the Agent-General in a position to refute the matter should he consider it necessary.
