. AUCKLAND. MESSRS. HUNTER AND NOLAN'S REPORT. Grain, Seeds, Horse-feed: There has been no auction sale, and very little doing privately, but transactions, were at the previous week's values. Horses : The week has been taken up with sales of blood and trotting horses, the usual Durham Yards sale having been postponed. Prices of thoroughbreds were lower than at the previous annual sales, but on the whole the expectation of breeders was reached. The sales opened at the Messrs. Alison's stud stables, Brown's Island, on the 27th December. The top price, 200 guineas, was obtained for a bay colt out of Friendship, by St. Leger ; the others ranged from 15 guineas to 110 guineas. On the 28th, at Sylvia Park, Messrs. L. D. Nathan submitted their Whitford Park stock, and Mrs. Walters her Glenlora Park youngsters. Prices ranged from 21 guineas to 110 guineas. At Wapiti, on the 30th, the Nelson progeny were disposed of at from 17 guineas to 61 guineas, and racing mare Coalscuttle, for 100 guineas. At the final sale at Wellington Park on the 3rd inst. there was a large concourse, and good bidding throughout. The top price was given for the Frailty colt by Castor, 1575 guineas. The only other that reached four figures was Necklace colt. There was a special sale of imported trotting horses bred by Mr. Samuel Hordern, Sydney, held at Potter's Paddock, on December 29, at which there were a large attend dance of buyers. Prices ranged from 19 to 135 guineas. Wool, hides, skins, tallow, bones : On account of the holidays no sale was held. Cattle : Dullness characterised the market and sales were limited, prices being in favour of the purchaser. Beef ranged from 17s to 20s per 1001b; some averages of steers were £7 12s 6d, £7 5s 6d, £7 2s 6d, £7, £6 10s, £6 7s 6d ; cows, £610s, £6 7s 6d, £6 Is, £6, £5 2s 6d, £4 17s 6d. Sheep were in moderate supply, but dull of sale ; wethers sold at from 10s 9d to 14s 6d; ewes, 7s 6d to lis 9d; lambs, 4s 9dto9s9d. - MESSRS. A. BUCKXAND AND SONS' WEEKLY REPORT. Consequent on the 1 holidays no sales have been held in Auckland during the past) week. At Pukekohe on Saturday there was a numerous muster of cattle, mostly calves and yearlings. Those were lower than . hitherto, from 3s to 5s each. Grown' cattle of all classes were firm at late quotations. At Remuera on Thursday quiet dairy cows and heifers at profit were yarded numerously. They fully kept late values. Prices ranged from £4 to £7 7s 6d each. Store cattle of all classes fairly represented kept their late values; dry cows were from 47s 6d to 655; three year steers, 955; strong calves. 39s to 52s Cd each. Calves in moderate supply were better worth, the grazier and dairyman competing with the butcher. Fat cattle in full number, 270 penned ; as the sale proceeded, about 30 were withdrawn. Prices for steers ranged from 18s to 20s per 1001b. but cows were lower in value about 10s each than for some time. Sheep in moderate supply; 715 yarded were steady at last week's quotations ; prices ranged' from lis to 15s each. Lambs also in short supply, 300 sold; prices were » from 6s 6d to 12s, out mostly from 8s to 10? each. Pigs in short supply were .without alteration in value. •
