May Qcees. —Three tenders were received to-day tor carting this company's quartz from the May Queen and Saxon hoppeis to the battery, and these have been forwarded on to the directors. Hazklbaxk.Crushing operations on behalf of this company are still proceeding with 10 bead of stampers at the Moanataiari battery, and will, probably, continue up to Monday or Tuesday next. There is nothing of importance t</ chronicle from the mine, the quartz coming to hand being of about the usual grade. Albprxia.—The No?. 4 and 5 stopes upon the hangingwall branch of Dixon's reef in the eastern block hare been carried right up to the old Sons of Freedom workings, so that no quartz is now coming to hand from those points, as the reef is cut 'off. Mr. Dunlop, however, is continuing the No. ostope, as a drive through to the opposite side of the Sons of Freedom, partly with a view of getting mullock for tilling in the stopes upon Dixon's reef, and partly for the purpose of ascertaining whether there is any likelihood of picking up the hangingwall branch again on that side. The other stopes in progress are yielding a fair supply of crushing dirt, in which a little gold is seen. The company has to give up possession of the Saxon battery to the May Queen Company at the end of his month, which is rather to be regretted at the present juncture, but I understand that Mr. Dunlop is endeavouring to prevent any cessation in the carrying on of crushing by trying to lease the i/atnbria battery for a short period. Waihi.—During the past month 1628 tons of ore have been crushed and treated for a return of bullion valued at £5412. MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS. Victoria.—The whole of the works have been carried on at the 100-feet level anil the stopes over that level. The drive along the course of the main reef has now been extended a distance of 84 feet, and at this point the hanging wall leader juuctioned with the main reef, and there was a slight improvement in the appearance of the reef ; but, on extending the drive a few feet past the junction. the reef, apparently, cut off. and nothing payable being met with, I have decided to open out on the hangingwall leader. This at present is small, being only from three to four inches, but it is still carrying some good minerals. I purpose continuing this on till it connects with a .crosscut running with the slide, some 85 feet from the present face. During the week I crushed niue loads from the stopes on the main reef over the 100-feet level, which was of a rather low grade, averaging about \oz to the load, which is barely payable.
