[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Fkildino, Wednesday. A man named Crawford was killed while bush -felling at Opiti yesterday. Wellington, Wednesday. At the Magistrate's Court to day, Alfred Joseph Kirk, late of Hawera, was committed for trial on charges under the Bankruptcy Act. Chkistchorcii, Wednesday. A man named Veruazoni, tobacconist, was charged with having in his possession a quantity of tobacco and cigars which had not been stamped or marked as required by the law. The value of the goods was £6, and he was fined treble the value of the goods, with costs £2 93. ° Dunedin, Wednesday. James Kennedy, who died here last week, was an old soldier, having enlisted in 1826. He took part in seven engagements. . , There is much complaint about the Christchurch unemployed being sent to Catlins, when there are so maify unemployed there. _______
